How to book train ticket online

In today's digital age, the Indian Railway is bringing changes surprisingly by introducing the enhanced Unreserved Ticketing (UTS) app. This innovation provides train booking convenience to the passengers at their fingertips. Through this, passengers can book tickets easily without any rush.

The first step to access this service is downloading the UTS app from the App Store or Google Play Store, just like any other app. While installing, users must create an account by entering essential information such as mobile number, name, password, gender, and date of birth.

Be careful while giving details and give correct information. After account registration, the user will receive a message containing login credentials with Zero Balance R-Wallet. Now you have created an account in the UTS app. Now you can book tickets easily.

The app's home screen will have various options like QR booking, quick booking, platform ticket, etc. For ticket booking, you click on the normal booking tab.

A natural doubt you may have is what is paperless mode and paper mode. For a paperless transaction, users must have their mobile phone's GPS turned on. If you choose paper mode, GPS activation is not required. Those who have opted for paperless transactions do not need to keep a printed (hard copy) ticket handy.

To proceed to the payment page, users enter their boarding station (departure) and alighting station (destination) and click Get Fare. Click on the Next Train option to get information about the next trains available based on the information you provided.

This app has a flexible payment process. For R-Wallet, users can choose various online payment methods like Debit Cards, UPI, Internet Banking, or Credit Card. Once the payment is completed, a paperless ticket will be generated instantly. Whereas paper mode tickets have to be collected from a dedicated UTS booth or the booking counter at railway stations.

Apart from traveling, platform tickets are also available through this app. There is no extra charge for booking on the app. UTS app provides a very convenient service that can avoid unreserved tickets and long queues.
